Respite Care   Print

Time away for a short stay

Caregivers for older adults can say “Yes!” to out-of-town invitations or simply take a ‘time-out’ for their own health or wellness, thanks to Cedar Community’s respite programs. Friendship House Assisted Living welcomes your loved one with early- to mid-stage Alzheimer’s disease or related memory loss, and Cedar Bay Assisted Living welcomes other older adults who wish to make themselves at home in our comfortable, furnished respite apartment for a short time.

Short-term residents can enjoy the same services and amenities as long-term assisted living residents:

  • Private, fully furnished apartment with private bathroom
  • Three full meals and snacks
  • Secure entrance and outdoor garden/courtyard*
  • Medication or other nursing assistance
  • Help with dressing or other personal care
  • Laundry service
  • Housekeeping
  • Bathing assistance
  • Beauty shop
  • A variety of outings and activities

* Friendship House only

Respite is available for a weekend, a week or longer. Space is limited, so we encourage you to check availability and make arrangements as well in advance as possible. You’ll need to prepare a few items before admission:

  • A record of a physician’s appointment with history and physical within 60 days of the visit
  • Current chest X-ray and/or record of negative TB skin test
  • Current medication listing
