Cedar Valley Center and Spa Hosts Contemplative Ink Painting Class

West Bend – Join Cedar Valley Center and Spa, 5349 County Road D in West Bend, on Saturday, March 10 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Contemplative Ink Painting. The cost for the class is $38 which includes the full-day workshop, all supplies and lunch.

Enjoy a day of quiet, and the beauty of Oriental Brush painting with Ruth Witt. The black and white paintings are expressed with only the most significant lines. The “dancing brush” executes every line quickly and sparingly. Every brush stroke follows the heartbeat of living nature. Join us and create your own beautiful brush paintings.

Cedar Valley Center and Spa Hosts Programs with Buddhist Monk

West Bend– CedarValleyCenterand Spa, located at 5349 County RoadD in West Bend, invites the public to meet and dialogue with Buddhist Monk Prah David Chutiko (Phra David). The meditation dialogue is Wednesday, Feb. 29 at7 p.m. and is free and open to all. The meditation retreat is Friday, March 2 from 7 to 9 p.m.and Saturday, March 3 from9 a.m.to8 p.m.Stay overnight atCedarValleyfor the meditation retreat. The overnight rate for single occupancy is $92 per person and $82 per person for double occupancy. For commuters, the cost is $25 per person which includes the retreat and lunch and dinner on Saturday.

Born in Malden, Mass., Venerable David, after 56 years of life experiences, was ordained as a Buddhist monk in the Theravada school, forest tradition, of Southeast Asiain Thailandby the Cambodian border. He completed his 15th “rains” on the full moon of October. His first seven years were spent living alone in a redwood forest on a small mountain inNorthern California where he practiced with Nature as his Teacher.

Presently, Venerable resides as Vice Abbot and teaches Meditation and Dharma at Wat Buddhabhavana ofMassachusetts,BuddhistMeditationCenterin Westford. He is also permanent guest teacher at theMassachusettsBuddhistAssociationCenterinLexington, where he teaches Dharma and Meditation to Chinese-American and Sri Lankan-American youth and adults, along with interested members of the general public.

Ajahn David has taught Dharma and Meditation at a federal prison for the past seven years and recently started teaching at a state prison as well. For the past ten years, Venerable Chutiko has visitedWisconsinto hold retreats.

The cost for the class is $55 which includes all supplies to complete a 16”x20” painting. Learn to paint a wintry cabin scene. JimLackner will guide you through the process of painting your very own masterpiece, suitable for framing, after just one class. Classes are especially suited to beginners. Bring your own lunch to enjoy during the break.
