Cedar Community Named Among the Best Nursing Homes by U.S. News & World Report for Fifth Year

Cedar Community is proud to announce it has received recognition as one of the Best Nursing Homes for 2022-2023 by U.S. News & World Report, a global authority in health care ranking. This is the fifth year Cedar Community has received this ranking out of more than 15,000 nursing homes nationwide, in every state. Cedar Community’s short-term rehabilitation has an overall rating of five out of five and earned the status of “High Performing,” the highest possible rating. The rating evaluates Cedar Community’s post-acute care for patients recovering from a hospital stay.

U.S. News gives the designation of Best Nursing Home only to those organizations that satisfy U.S. News’ assessment of the appropriate use of key services and consistent performance in quality measures. Assessments of services include categories such as nurse staffing, physical therapist staffing, consistent nurse staffing, prevention of falls, patients able to return home, and patient-centered rehabilitation therapy.

Cedar Community had a higher percentage of patients who were able to return home after being discharged, compared to the national average. They also had lower percentage rates in the number of falls, emergency room visits, and rehospitalizations.

“We are proud to be among the elite 16 percent of skilled nursing facilities that earned a ‘High Performing’ rating for our short-term rehabilitation. Cedar Community continually monitors and focuses on quality improvements, allowing for successful patient outcomes,” says Kelli DeRuyter, RN, BSN, NHA, Administrator/Vice President of Clinical Services. “To achieve this honor for the fifth year is a true testament to the quality, dedication, and compassion of our team members who provide patient-centered, quality healthcare each and every day.”
