Jane Meyer, Life Enrichment Specialist, worked for the family business right out of high school. Her parents owned a bus company and she worked there for 31 years, until her parents passed away, and the family sold the business. Jane always wanted to do something more creative with her life, when a neighbor who worked at Cedar Community, suggested she would be perfect for an activity job.
Jane started as a volunteer, playing piano on the rehabilitation floors to get a feel for the organization. She was a natural, having played organ for 43 years at church. Jane started a job in housekeeping on the memory care household, and played piano during the residents’ lunch. She was thrilled when a position became available in life enrichment, and she was hired. She has a passion for working with seniors, something she was familiar with since helping care for her paralyzed grandfather who lived across the street from her when she was a child.
Jane enjoys being able to do a little bit of everything, especially when it comes to being creative and coming up with new games and crafts. “I enjoy coming to work and being able to use my skills on a daily basis. I enjoy working with people and helping wherever I can,” says Jane. She especially enjoys listening to resident stories and making them laugh.
