Cedar Community was recently recognized nationally by U.S. News & World Report as a 2026 Best Senior Living Community, earning the distinction of Best Continuing Care Retirement Community. Cedar Community is one of only two communities in the state of Wisconsin to earn this honor. Additionally, they were recognized for Best Independent Living , Best Assisted Living, and Best Memory Care, adding to their existing ranking for Best Skilled Nursing Short-Term Rehabilitation.
For its 2026 Best Senior Living ratings, U.S. News analyzed more than 540,000 survey responses from residents and their family members across more than 3,000 senior living communities. The survey asked residents and family members about their satisfaction with various aspects of the community, including safety, the quality of care, available activities and enrichment, management and staff. To be included in the ratings, communities had to meet eligibility criteria that included survey completion and participation rates. U.S. News analyzed the survey data and applied several weightings and adjustments to create the final scores. Only communities with the highest scores in each category were recognized as “Best” communities.
U. S. News & World Report also highlighted communities that scored exceptionally high in specific survey categories. Cedar Community received additional accolades for:
• Assisted Living – Caregiving
• Independent Living – Management and Staff, Activities and Enrichment, Feels Like Home, Food and Dining
“Providing compassionate, resident-centered care that fosters connection, purpose, and a true sense of home is at the heart of everything we do at Cedar Community,” says Nicole Pretre, president and CEO. “This recognition from U.S. News & World Report honors the extraordinary commitment our team members bring to serving residents with excellence every day.”

Resident, Assisted Living:
“Moving to Cedar Community was one of the best decisions I ever made. The facility is pleasant, in an amazing natural setting, with an abundance of activities and opportunities for social interaction. Where else can you find access to Big Cedar Lake and an opportunity for kayaking? Or miles of trails for hiking right on site? It’s no wonder it continues to rank high on government standards.”
