Meet The Team: Deb Meinert

Deb Meinert has dedicated over 40 years to Cedar Community, serving in various roles, including nursing secretary, human resources, and philanthropy. After graduating high school and working in a factory, Deb pursued a career in healthcare by earning a certification as a health unit clerk. Her first interview was with Cedar Community, where she began her journey.

Deb’s career evolved as she transitioned to the nursing data office, later moving to human resources, where she spent 27 years. In this role, she specialized in safety, workers’ compensation, and team member orientation. In 2019, Deb embraced a new challenge in philanthropy, helping shape the department’s “donor first” philosophy alongside Sarah Malchow. “Deb’s love for people—her fellow team members, our residents, and our donors—is woven through, and evident in, the deeply personal practices of the philanthropy department,” says Sarah.

Today, Deb is a key member of the philanthropy team, processing donations and supporting events like philanthropy socials and Butterfly Releases. She also works with families in the Memorial Garden and enjoys close relationships with residents. “I truly believed in the good care provided at Cedar Community, but I actually got to see it firsthand with my mom,” Deb reflects, recalling her mother’s care in memory care.

Now in an exciting phase of life, Deb enjoys being a grandmother and living on a hobby farm with 200 chickens. She remains an active volunteer and finds joy in her large family, both biological and Cedar Community. “I have so many reasons to be thankful every day!” she says.
