Meet The Team: Kim Ehardt

Kim Ehardt began her journey at Cedar Community at just 16 years old, working in dining services at Cedar Lake Health and Rehabilitation Center. Unsure of her career path at first, she spent four years in the kitchen, forming connections with residents. Inspired by those relationships and a teammate’s suggestion, she pursued her certified nursing assistant (CNA) license while working full time. In 2008, she became a CNA and transitioned to part-time work at Cedar Community’s assisted living before accepting a full-time nursing assistant role in 2012.

“My older sister worked at Cedar Community, and that’s one of the reasons I came here. Recently, I encouraged my younger sister to get a job here as a CNA,” says Kim.

Having worked at other senior living facilities, Kim ultimately chose Cedar Community because of the strong sense of family she built with both her teammates and residents. One resident she cared for when she first started still lives in assisted living today. As a CNA, she supports residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, meals, and transportation, ensuring their comfort and well-being.

Kim finds joy in her role, especially in the one-on-one interactions with residents. She appreciates how smoothly her team works together, saying, “The days just fly by and everything flows really well with our crew.”

In addition to her CNA role, Kim serves as a mentor in Cedar Community’s Mentor Program, guiding new team members through their six-month training period and offering ongoing support. “After their six-month training, I am always available to answer questions and assist with whatever is needed,” says Kim.
