Lisa Kelling, a life enrichment team member and music therapist, holds a bachelor’s degree in music therapy from UW Oshkosh. She has been involved in music since childhood, playing clarinet, guitar, and piano. Lisa began her career at Cedar Community in 1994 as a college intern. After two months, she was hired full-time as a music therapist assistant and completed the final portion of her internship in this role. Upon graduation, her title changed to music therapist.
Lisa enjoys planning a variety of activities, from craft projects to outings and special events. “Residents are the heart of what I do. If I am having a bad day, they really lift you up,” says Lisa. She appreciates learning from the residents, who have lived through history and offer valuable stories.
Lisa is also recognized by her team members for her dedication to the residents. “Lisa has been an absolute blessing for our residents and team,” says a colleague. “She goes above and beyond to provide them with fun socials and outings.” Lisa is known for maintaining the vegetable garden, decorating for holidays, and stepping in wherever help is needed.
Lisa is grateful for the resources available at Cedar Community, including technology, instruments, and educational opportunities. “We are so much more advanced than other similar organizations,” says Lisa.
In her spare time, Lisa enjoys hunting, reading, and nature.
