There is no doubt the COVID-19 pandemic has changed many things in our day-to-day lives, but we are fortunate at Cedar Community in West Bend and Elkhart Lake that our residents tell us they feel safe, and thankful that they are here during this unprecedented time.
At Cedar Community we continue to offer tours for all levels of care from independent living to short-term rehabilitation. Tours follow all COVID precautions; they are by appointment only, but allow prospective residents, families, and patients to learn more about the Cedar Community lifestyle.
We’re taking care of those that need care, hosting socially distant activities, screening team members daily and testing them weekly per guidance of federal and state health officials, wearing masks and shields, and social distancing.
While this is a difficult time, Cedar Community team members have been busy trying to make the holidays a little extra special for residents. Operation Winter Wonderland was a holiday team building and volunteer engagement opportunity for local businesses to show support for their community. The idea, developed by Sarah Malchow, Cedar Community Director of Philanthropy, was initiated to actively engage volunteers, while conforming to COVID-19 guidelines. Volunteers from Regal Ware decorated Cedar Community’s Cedar Creek Park for the holidays. Cedar Community’s sun room overlooks the park and allows residents to enjoy the holiday decorations. Douglas Dynamics participated as well, decorating the courtyard at our assisted living for all to enjoy! West Bend Children’s Theatre, Inc. took on the Cottages, Cedar Community’s Memory Care. The generosity and time given to Cedar Community has created a little extra sparkle this holiday season.
Cedar Community’s Woodwork Shop gifted each resident with a handcrafted birch log cutout adorned with Christmas greens. Life Enrichment team members have been busy decorating for the season and sharing special moments with family members. Cedar Community’s chaplains are sharing some “light” with a keepsake ornament for every team member and resident.
Each and every day, our team members join together and continue to provide compassionate care for each and every resident. At Cedar Community, we are an extended family and we are Cedar Community Strong!
